Can't believe we actually won a BAFTA.
BAFTA Television Craft awards Winner - Best Photography Factual - BBC Blue Planet 2 - Episode One Ocean.
Congratulations to all the cinematography team: Alfredo Barro, Chris Bryan, Patrick Dykstra, Tom Fitz, Ted Giffords, Steve Hathaway, Roger Horrocks, Roger Munns, Didier Noirot, David Reichert, Nuno Nuno Sá, Gavin Thurston, for the BAFTA award.
Can't say how proud I am to be a part of such a amazing team of talented people and having given a contribute to such a milestone series such as Blue Planet 2.
It seems it was just yesterday that I was watching the original Blue Planet series and dreaming that maybe one day I would see some of those amazing spectacles of Nature in person. 16 years latter to actually be part of the team that wins a BAFTA for the opening episode of Blue Planet 2 is just beyond any dream or expectation.
My contribution to this episode was probably one of the most intense underwater experience in my career - shooting the great herring migration in the Norwegian fiords and the hundreds of Orcas and Humpbacks that follow them.
Special thanks to producer Jonathan Smith and to Frank Wirth for the logistics, Emanuel Goulart Skipper extraordinaire and safety diver Marta Vargas, for all the help filming the Orcas feeding in the Norwegian fiords.
A even bigger thanks to my family and especially my beautiful wife Maria Sáthat takes care of my 3 kids and somehow survives it all while I chase ocean life around the world.

And the last days of shooting in the Azores for National Geographic channel in partnership with ORF/Universum, with Austrian producer and presenter Erich Proell, have just ended. The full documentary will air late this year, in November. This is the biggest production ever made about the Azores sea life. All the Azorean Islands visited, 2 years of shooting from the air, land, underwater and even from a submarine. Going from aerial views to 1000m deep to show the most amazing behaviours of the Azorean wildlife. Can´t wait to see it on a wide screen.
