Atlantic Ridge Productions is owned and managed by Nuno Sá, a Portuguese Ocean conservationist and cinematographer.

Nuno Sá ended his Law degree in one of Portugal’s top universities in 2001. One year latter he moved to the islands of the Azores to pursue his dream of living a life connected with the sea, where lived for the 12 years.

Nuno Sá was the first Portuguese wildlife photographer awarded in some of the worlds major nature photography competitions, and is the author of six books and several dozens of articles published on National and International magazines, such as National Geographic Portugal.

As a wildlife photographer Nuno Sá has been very active in creating marine awareness about the unique sea life of the Azores and Portugal. In 2010 he started a new way of getting people involved opening Portugal first Production Company specialized in underwater imagery – Atlantic Ridge Productions.

2013 was another year for a big change in the company when we decided to invest in Portugal’s first Ultra High Definition Digital Cinema 5k RED Epic camera in a professional housing – Gates Deep Dragon.

Under or over water (but mostly under) Nuno Sá has cooperated as producer, director of photography or cameraman with several National and International TV channels such as BBC, National Geographic channel, Japanese channel NHK, Austrian ORF/Universum and many others.

Nuno Sá was part of the team of main cinematographers of Blue Planet 2 episodes 1 (One Ocean) and 4 (Big Blue), shooting in the Azores and Norway. He was also main under water cameraman for other high profile productions such as BBC1´s animals with cameras episode 3, or ORF/Nat Geo Wild - Wild Islands of the Atlantic. His participation in the cinematography team of Blue Planet 2 earned him a BAFTA in 2018 and a Emmy nomination.

In 2019 we produced the biggest series ever about Portugals sea life "Mar, a última fronteira", a six part series for RTP1 and the sponsorship of the Lisbon Oceanarium, seen by over 1.7 millions viewers in Portugal.

From our own expedition boat, to rebreathers, scooters, drones and mirage of photo and video equipment we are geared up for all kind of work from natural history imagery to commercial works.
